FIT INDIA MOVEMENT
“Fitness has always been an integral part of our culture.”
– Narendra Modi
Prime Minister Sri. Narendra Modi launched the ‘Fit India movement’ on 29.08.19 at the Indira Gandhi Stadium in New Delhi at 10 am. This initiative is the need of the hour and will take the country towards healthier future. He launched this nation-wide campaign to encourage people to inculcate physical activity and sports in their everyday lives.
Delhi Public School North Kolkata came forward and took an initiative to encourage the young minds by showing them the live telecast of this movement.
The launch was attended by Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju and National Sports Awards 2019 winners among others. The colourful ceremony included a presentation of India’s indigenous martial art forms and sports. Mr. Kiran Rijiju expressed his gratitude for the movement being launched on the birth anniversary of Major Dhyan Chand. The winners of national sports awards were congratulated for their achievements.
On the launch of the programme, PM Modi launched a “Fitness Logo”. Additionally, he will launch a “Fitness Pledge” that reads, “I promise to myself that I will devote time for physical activity and sports every day and I will encourage my family members and neighbours to be physically fit and make India a fit nation.”
Fitness is not just a movement in India; globally it is being taken seriously. Lifestyle disorders are on the rise. We can ensure we don’t get these just by being fitness-conscious. Our health and well-being are in our own control. Fit India Movement is aimed at encouraging people to give priority to sports and fitness in their day-to-day lives.
