DPS NATIONAL SHOOTING CAMPIONSHIP

DPS NATIONAL SHOOTING CAMPIONSHIP

Udaipur 20th July, 2019 – There was a DPS NATIONAL SHOOTING CAMPIONSHIP conducted by DPS society in Rajasthan hosted by DPS Udaipur from 19th July to 20th July.

I am Nishan Kar of class X section-C roll no-16. I had participated from our school, DPS North Kolkata, in the ‘DPS NATIONAL SHOOTING CAMPIONSHIP BOYS (OPEN) 2019-20’ held at DPS Udaipur and it was a good experience for me to participate in this type of competition. I have gained a lot of experience in my sport. Our school came secured the 8th position out of 21 DPS that had participated there and my individual ranking was 13th out of 42 pistol shooters. I had tried my all best to take our school to the top rank table. However, this time my luck not good. My pistol had an internal damage on the match day. So I could not shoot properly on the match so our school ranking was not so well. I came to know that when the match started. So I thought that I was out of this competition but Ayan sir cheered when there was a bad shot. So I was somehow able to complete my competition not so well but little better than the others. And it was a wonderful competition.                                                                       I am thankful to my school for sending me to this type to national level competition. I promise to do better and try to win the next competition.

MY HOBBY CLASS- ART & CRAFT

MY HOBBY CLASS- ART & CRAFT

My hobby is Art and Craft. It is an interesting club. We have a lot of fun there. On the first day we met our art teacher and sat group wise to make creative things with paper. First day we mad beautiful paper flowers with coloured papers twisted together. Each group made one flower. All members of the group helped one another to make the flower. In the next two classes, we made envelopes out of coloured papers. I am very excited about what we are going to learn in the next class.

MY FAVOURITE HOBBY CLUB – ART & CRAFT

Art and craft are beautiful creations made by us using our hands; craft is an excellent hobby. My name is Tejaswini Biswas. I study in DPS North Kolkata, Class IV A. This year, in school, we were introduced to many hobby classes like dance, aerobics and art and craft. I chose art and craft because I know that I can express my creativity and enjoy the pleasure of expressing my inner thoughts and feelings.

In the first week, we made folded paper flowers in groups of five members. We enjoyed the activity a lot. In second week, we again made paper flowers but this time twisted the papers and made them into cones. That was real delight. This was again a group activity. Our teacher helped us when we had a problem. I like my teacher a lot. In the third week, we made colourful envelopes out of paper. I love going for the hobby classes.

EDUCATION IN MY SCHOOL

EDUCATION IN MY SCHOOL

Illiteracy is the root cause of poverty and ignorance. The Union Government has provided the Right to Education to its every citizen. Schools are the places where one can get the opportunity of learning by different courses and syllabus and develop themselves into intellectual human beings. Schools are not only the source of knowledge but there we also learn the principle of behaviour, filled with morals and ethics as well the importance of discipline. There we learn fraternity and become aware from the feeling of co-operation. In the sports ground, we become physically strong and learn to accept defeats with courage. There we also learn paying respect and value of time.

Everybody going to school has a deep respect for her/his school and teachers and feels proud. I got admission in a school which is much better than any other schools in my opinion. I can give a reason for that. After my admission in Nursery class, I am still in the same school pursuing my studies. I love my school and the teachers are so much concerned with students that I can’t think my life without them. Teachers are dedicated to their work, have love and care for the students without any kind of discrimination and ensure the growth of every student. They solve the problems of students in a manner that is felt easy by the student.

My school has a tall multi-storey building with a huge playground, many classrooms, staffrooms, auditorium, library, laboratories, and a big administrative block. It is coloured sky blue and white with a red roof on the outside whereas the inner walls are painted in different colours giving it a beautiful look. It has a fascinating main entrance with five more exit points. It is well equipped with CCTV cameras and security guards are employed on the gates and other places. There is a multi-tapped mineral water trough, a smart canteen and many washrooms separately for boys and girls.

The staff members are well disciplined and honest to their work that everybody even an outsider is impressed by their behaviour. The teaching faculty is gentle and well educated trained personalities in the town. They are very cordial to the students as well as the parents during the time of Parent- Teacher Meetings and on other occasions.

The principal of my school is a learned person of middle age. She is a fine but strict person. She loves discipline and wants everyone to follow the rules. She always meets the students at the time of assembly and delivers a short speech on many occasions. She loves to wear formal dress to school.

Our teachers are the esteemed personalities of the town and well educated. They deliver their knowledge among the students to make them responsible citizens. Their method of teaching the lessons is so charming that everyone learns well. If anyone has a personal problem they solve it in extra classes or during their leisure time. They not only work for the syllabus but also teach lessons of morality and discipline. Besides they love us but they are strict too. They punish the students if any kind of discrepancy found in their work and behaviour.

My school follows the curriculum of the board and judges the progress of the students through various tests. My teachers teach us according to a lesson plan and after the end of the topic give a test as per schedule. The quarterly and the final examination are held on stipulated days and results are announced in the classes after 10 days.

Many kind of extra-curricular activities are held in my school with the academics. Essay writing, football competition, cricket matches, activities on paper cutting etc are some of them. Our school participates in many inter-school tournaments and students enjoy them. My school is the winner of many events and champion of Volleyball and Kabaddi. Regular health check up is common.

My school provides various means of transport for the students coming from long distances all around the town. Many rickshaws, Auto-rickshaws, small vans and buses ply around the whole town and carry students safely.

The school I study in is one of the esteemed institutions of the town. It runs following the CBSE curriculum. Many of its previous students were benefited from studying in this school.

Student Counselling Session by Ms. Devlina Lahiri of Anubhav – positive psychology clinic

Today at Delhi Public School North Kolkata, we had a counselling session for Class X by Ms. Devlina Lahiri of Anubhav – positive psychology clinic.

Students of Classes X and XII are always under a lot of pressure, as they are facing Board Exams. To add to it are societal, parental expectations and peer pressure. These students, often do not get a scope to open up, for fear of being criticized or ridiculed.

We at DPS North Kolkata empathize with them and therefore have arranged a counselling session with Anubhav, an organisation which is well known for their contribution in the field of psychology.

PARENTS COUNSELLING SESSION

For the last two decades the young generation of the age group 12 to 18 years has been passing through tremendous mental pressure in coping with the mounting expectation of parents regarding academics, behavior, conduct and obedience. This pressure gives rise to various kinds of behavioral disorders in children which are in most cases harmful to the children themselves. We perceive different kinds of psychological problems in teenagers the culmination of which is seen in the increase of suicides or murders among this age group.

Keeping this in mind, DPS North Kolkata took the initiative to address this serious and sensitive issue and organize a parent counselling session on 15th July 2019 in the school auditorium.  ANUBHAB POSITIVE PSYCHOLOGY CLINIC successfully conducted a workshop with the parents of the present Class X students. The psychologists explained the scenario quite explicitly and gave the parents a precise understanding of the young adult psychology and behavioral pattern. They also guided the parents as how to conduct themselves before their children so as to gain their respect and love forever.

Parents shared and discussed their views quite freely. Principal ma’am gave her inputs at various junctures. Overall, the session was extremely beneficial and rewarding for the parents as well as the school representatives present there. Parents said that they would be looking forward to more such interactive sessions in future.

We were then escorted to our respective events by their volunteers and all the events went by smoothly. The main attraction of Chrysalis ’19 was Allegro, which was a band performance by the school bands of the participating schools. It was an exclusive event and it lived up to everybody’s expectations.

To end the fest, the school had also invited a magician, who concluded the fest gracefully and with cheers and applauds. In a nutshell, the students had as much fun participating as they had competing with other schools. They learnt about sportsmanship, team spirit and interacting with people out of their comfort zones. They learnt from their failures and took oaths to come back strong and experienced.
